A Custom Made Pergola with Water Feature
Clients brief to create a sympathetic shade area on a hot South facing patio, this should include a water feature, lighting and plants.
On this project I decided to construct a two tier pergola to complement the rear view of houses. I used two 150 by 75mm planks of timber to construct each post which were internally joined and glued to aoid the norm of splitting in these larger gauge timbers. This timber was then treated using a two part timber treatment from Silkins to give superior longevity and grain colour.
I then constructed a small stone water feature with internal lighting, rockery and a very select planting scheme using semi evergreen climbers and plants to avoid the seasonal lows which many climbters leave yet still giving seasonal colour change.
